Henryka Bochniarz nominated as the Chair of the Social Dialogue Council

Henryka Bochniarz, President of the Polish Confederation Lewiatan, nominated as the Chair of the Social Dialogue Council.

Social Dialogue Council is a one-year-old leading Polish institution focused on the national tripartite dialogue that replaced inefficient Tripartite Commission for Social and Economic Affairs. This chairmanship will last one year since there is a yearly rotation among social partners.

The nomination is a recognition of the significant role of the Polish Confederation Lewiatan throughout the years. It has been made by a unanimous decision of social partners - employers organizations, trade unions, and also it has been supported by the government and the President.

From the very beginning, Polish Confederation Lewiatan has been devoted to social dialogue in Poland. We were working closely with several former governments, and we are doing so with the current administration. We've been a demanding, but also reliable social partner, pointing at weaknesses of different economic and legislative projects along with suggested solutions and alternative propositions in favor of economy and entrepreneurs in Poland.

The first year of the Social Dialogue Council was devoted mainly to running the procedures and testing new mechanisms. This was the beginning of the functioning of the Bureau, the task teams and dialogue mechanisms. After a year, it is clear that one of the biggest successes of the Council was to increase the sense of subjectivity of the social partners in the new dialogue and a genuine commitment to the Council. The next step should be providing a good balance between social partners, as well as trust and willingness of all dialogue stakeholders to take common actions.

Our main goals are the following: enhancing the quality and durability of law, increasing the transparency of a legislative process,  including on the Council's agenda more issues related to the EU law and challenges to the EU single market, as well as creating a strategic vision of the Council.
